Safe and Empowering Support

Shantel is a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker in the state of California who is supervised by Dr. Thomas Lucking. Shantel is dedicated to creating a space that fosters empowerment, understanding, and safety to heal and grow. She understands that sharing vulnerable thoughts and feelings can be terrifying. She also acknowledges the stigma related to mental health and self-care, notably in the South Asian and Desi communities.

Shantel recognizes that every person has their own unique needs and goals for therapy and she believes it is acceptable to seek mental health support beyond the confines of traditional treatment. She considers all factors in human existence, including personal, environmental, and cultural influences, when tailoring treatment to best fit each client. She is committed to helping individuals overcome trauma and is dedicated to ongoing professional development to ensure that she is providing the most effective and evidence-based treatments to her clients.

Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety is a common mental health condition that can cause intense feelings of fear, worry, and panic. It can impact daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life. Depression
is a mood disorder that can cause feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of motivation or interest in activities that were once enjoyable. Shantel understands the impact that anxiety and depression can have on a person’s mental and emotional well-being.

Shantel recognizes that anxiety and depression are complex conditions that require individualized care. Through her client-centered approach, Shantel helps her clients develop coping skills and tools to manage their symptoms and achieve their therapeutic goals. She provides a safe and nonjudgmental environment for her clients to express their thoughts and emotions, helping them to feel heard and validated. Shantel also utilizes evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help individuals manage their anxiety and depression.

Trauma and PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms of PTSD can include flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance of certain people or places, and hyperarousal. Trauma is emotionally and/or physically overwhelming and can lead to negative effects on an individual’s mental health.

Shantel understands that trauma can have a profound impact on a person’s mental and emotional well-being, leading to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. With her specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Shantel has the skills and expertise to help individuals overcome trauma and manage symptoms of PTSD.
