Cynthia is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#136690) and is supervised by Dr. Thomas Lucking. She earned her Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
Her experience includes working with children, families, adolescents and adults. She has worked with underserved families and adolescents who are incarcerated and transitioning back to society. Cynthia also has experience working with children and families impacted by domestic violence, physical and sexual abuse, and neglect.
During graduate school she worked with undocumented immigrants and provided case management services such as housing, transportation, and job assistance. As a first generation latina she understands the difficulties minorities face assimilating to a new country and culture. As the first person in her family to attend college she understands the importance for young adults to have guidance and support as they navigate through the challenges and changes that come with adulthood and the higher education system.
Cynthia believes in a holistic approach for therapy to help clients strive for overall well-being and meet each client where they are on their journey and will use a therapeutic approach better suited for that client’s needs. She believes in the importance of a therapeutic alliance and provides a safe space where clients can feel heard, empowered and supported.
