My name is Alex Frank. My life and career experiences have exposed me to a rich and diverse set of stories, challenges, and complex situations that inform my practice. My approach uses storytelling, is trauma informed, and uses an asset-based psychotherapy orientation. The therapy I provide is client centered, direct, solutions oriented, and grounded in a deep sense of care. Together, we’ll co-create a safe therapeutic experience that allows us to explore how internal narratives and patterns are shaped by systemic, historical, political, or familial stories. I am particularly interested in interpersonal and structural based trauma and how it manifests in our bodies, while integrating mindfulness-based practices to build social/ emotional wellness and healing.

For nearly ten years, I have worked with people to move through every-day stressors as well as major life experiences within government and non-profit settings. I have an extensive background working with corrections staff, former military, and formerly incarcerated/ justice system impacted people; language-based learning disabilities; as well as people struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and grief. I provide a safe therapeutic space for those who need to vent and heal from racial injustice, and the generational effects of white-body supremacy.

I received my Masters in Social Work from New York University, and my Bachelors degree from Lesley University in Holistic Psychology. I’ve received training in conflict resilience and restorative practices from the Community Conferencing Center in Baltimore and have participated in extensive training on the mind-body relationship to social/ emotional healing. In addition to my clinical practice, I am an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School where I teach courses in youth justice, as well as the Director of Root Solutions for Public Safety at the non-profit organization Race Forward.
